My name is Suzanne and I run a professional machine quilting service in the Inner West.
I offer edge-to-edge quilting (pantographs or all over quilting) on my 26" NEI Proquilter which sits on a 10 ft frame. I have a large selection of pantographs to choose from, including children's designs, flowers, feathers, leaves and many others.
Edge-to-edge quilting is a single line of quilting that is worked from one edge of the quilt to the other and the same row of quilting is repeated through the whole length of the quilt. This is done using a laser light that is attached to the longarm machine allowing for the pattern of the pantograph to be followed using this light. This then allows the pattern of the pantograph to be stitched onto the quilt. These patterns are worked in rows and these rows usually interlock one another giving a very continuous and even pattern throughout the whole quilt.
Pantograph patterns can range from very small and dense patterns to very large and light patterns, so picking a design to suit your quilt should be easy and fun. Once the pattern is decided upon the right coloured thread needs to be chosen. The colour of the thread will depend on how you want the quilting on your quilt to look. If you want the quilting to blend into the quilt, then the colour of the thread needs to be close to the dominant colour in the quilt or if you want the thread to be seen, then a contrasting colour needs to be used. I have a large selection of threads to choose from.

Preparing Your Quilt
Please ensure your quilt is squared up as best as you can. Also give your quilt top and backing a good press.
The quilt backing and batting need to be about 4" larger on every side. This is needed to load the quilt onto the frame for quilting.
You can bring your quilt top, backing and batting in a recycle or plastic bag, and it does not need to be basted.
Organising Your Quilting Service
If you are interested in knowing how much it will roughly cost to quilt your quilt top, you can use this formula:
Quilt width in inches multiplied by quilt length in inches = quilt top square inches, then divide by 144 and that will give you your quilt size in square feet (eg 60"x60"=3600 sqi / 144 = 25 sqf)
Once you know the quilt top size in square feet, it is then multiplied by the cost per square foot from the above table. (25 sqf x $4/ sqf =$100). This price only includes the quilting, the number of bobbins needs to be added as well as trimming, thread colour change or binding prices.
If you decide that you are interested in having your machine quilting done by me, you can contact me via phone or email. We can discuss your quilt and what kind of quilting you would like done as well as organise a date and time for your quilting to be done, how and when the quilt can be dropped off.
